The 673rd Medical Group (673 MDG) is a 65-bed military, 8 operating room military treatment facility providing primary and subspecialty, outpatient and inpatient care to 159,000 Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries. This Joint Venture hospital is a primary referral center for Alaska.
It supports global engagement through multiple Expeditionary Medical Support elements, Critical Care Air Transport Teams, and casualty reception with mission capability of expanding to 150 beds, and a 100-bed En Route Patient Staging System. As a Joint Venture facility, 673 MDG is recognized throughout the nation for our partnership with the Alaska Department of Veteran Affairs. We continually explore ways in which we can collaborate and integrate services to provide more effective and efficient healthcare.

673rd Medical Operations Squadron: Approximately 360 health care professionals provide primary care including family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. Specialty care includes mental health, family advocacy, cardiopulmonary, dermatology, allergy and immunizations, neurology, gastroenterology, sleep lab, the traumatic brain injury clinic, substance abuse, physical, chiropractic, and occupational therapy. Normal clinic operations are weekdays, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with the exception of the Emergency Department, which is 24/7.
673rd Dental Squadron: The Dental Squadron provides a full range of services to the active-duty population including general dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, implants and prosthodontics. Orthodontic services are limited to the treatment of severe malocclusion.
673rd Operational Medical Readiness Squadron: The 673rd OMRS provides the following Team Aerospace services, supporting the joint warfighter: Flight Medicine, Warrior Operational Medicine Clinic, Preventive and Occupational Medicine, Force Health Management, Optometry, Audiology, Public Health, Occupational and Environmental Surveillance, Health Promotion services, disaster/flightline response services, traumatic brain injury clinic, Mental Health, Family Advocacy, Substance Misuse Disorder treatment, and Physical, Chiropractic and Occupational therapy. The 673rd OMRS has several operations located away from the main MDG campus, including Aerospace Medicine (Building 8497), Bioenvironmental Engineering (Building 604), and Health Promotions, located at the Arctic Oasis.
673rd Medical Support Squadron: The Medical Support Squadron provides a full complement of support services to medical group staff and beneficiaries to include: personnel and administrative services, medical logistics, information systems, medical readiness, patient administration, TRICARE operations, resource management, nutritional medicine, pharmacy, and laboratory services.
673rd Surgical Operations Squadron: The Surgical Operations Squadron offers full surgical specialty capability for general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, including laser refractive surgery for active duty personnel, wound care, and comprehensive pain management. Currently, the speech pathology service is expanding service capabilities.
The 673rd Inpatient Operations Squadron delivers 24/7 care across 17 medical and surgical specialties to 122,000 beneficiaries. The 673rd IPTS is PACAF’s largest and busiest inpatient squadron, and consists of a Multi-Service Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Behavioral Health Unit, and Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum Unit. Our mission is to deliver safe and effective care in garrison while training to meet the expeditionary mission wherever we are called to serve. Additionally, IPTS won the 2023 award for Best Inpatient Patient Safety Program.
