The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
If you have a scheduled appointment or other business at the MTF, please verify with your provider or applicable office within the MTF to ensure there are no changes in schedule. To learn how the lapse in appropriations affects your TRICARE benefit, visit tricare.mil/shutdown

Influenza Vaccine Update

Influenza Vaccine Update

Flu season is upon us. We’re concerned about your health and encourage everyone to get vaccinated annually against influenza.

It’s critical that everyone who is able receives a flu vaccine. It is essential that active duty service members, active-duty family members, and other beneficiaries are well-protected from influenza.

Please see the guidance below for getting the flu vaccine here at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Service Members

Active duty, National Guard, and Reserve service members are required to get the flu vaccine.

  • The 2025-2026 JBER Flu Drive will take place at the Elmendorf Gym Oct. 8-10, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
  • All active duty service members and beneficiaries ages 10-64 can get the flu vaccine at the flu drive.
  • Wait time is expected to be minimal for this event.

Beginning Oct. 14, the flu vaccine will also be offered at the Allergy & Immunizations clinic. Please utilize the QR code posted throughout the facility or utilize the link on the JBER Connect app to book an appointment.

Check the 673rd MDG Facebook page  for the most up to date information about flu vaccine availability at the 673rd MDG Allergy/Immunization Clinic

If you get a flu vaccine anywhere besides JBER, follow your service’s policy guidance for recording the vaccine in your shot record. You'll need the following information:

  • The date the vaccine was given
  • The vaccine name or code
  • Manufacturer
  • Lot number

All Other Beneficiaries

  • Beginning Oct. 14, the flu vaccine will also be offered at the Allergy & Immunizations clinic.
  • During the time of the flu drive, patients 10 – 64 years of age will be redirected to the flu drive, while the clinic focuses on ages 65 + and pediatrics under ten years of age.

Other Options for Getting the Flu Vaccine

  • If you’re unable to get the flu vaccine here, you can visit any participating network pharmacy or TRICARE-authorized civilian provider.
  • Visit the TRICARE Flu Resources page to learn more.
