Alaska-based military hospital earns national recognition for patient safety

The military hospital on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, earned an “A” for excellence in patient safety earlier this month, making it one of nine military hospitals from across the nation that received a top score from The Leapfrog Group.

JBER captain is Kona Ironman’s military world champion

Finishing with a total time of nine hours, 54 minutes, and 1 second, U.S. Air Force Capt. Samantha Skold won the military division at the Kona Ironman World Championships. The active duty physician assistant, currently stationed at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Family Health Clinic, completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run in October, 2023.

During a blood donation center event Sept. 10 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, a U.S. Air Force basic trainee donated the 15,000th unit of blood collected in Civil Air Patrol’s three-year Operation Pulse Lift mission.
